Infindeck

Infinadeck is a virtual reality platform based on an omni-directional treadmill that allows the user to walk infinitely in any direction. Its creators are describing the platform as the world’s first affordable omni-directional treadmill and “the missing link making it now possible to have a true Holodeck experience.”
The Infinadeck, being an omni-directional treadmill, reacts to the movement of the user to keep them in the middle of the device no matter what direction they are going in. The platform, therefore, allows 360 degrees of movement. The device uses a combination of belt movement and a movable platform that can turn in a perpendicular direction and keeps the user in one place, at the center of the treadmill.
The Infinadeck works just like a standard treadmill so people don’t need any special equipment to use it. There are no special shoes or suit required, and since the platform basically consist of a wide flat surface it allows the user to walk at a comfortable pace and in any speed they want without needing to be extra mindful of their space. The Infinadeck also features elevation and decline movement and allows users to experience what it is like to walk uphill or downhill.

The creators of the platform are focusing on pushing the product to companies or businesses that are into augmented and virtual reality, video gaming, health and physical fitness, military applications, law enforcement training, education, medical applications, and more.
The company publicly unveiled the Infinadeck at the recent Silicon Valley Virtual Reality Expo and according to the creators the omni-directional treadmill still needs some work. At the moment the prototype of the device still needs an operator to manually adjust the speed and the direction of the treadmills. The company is also working on getting some funding to make the treadmill even more compact. The creators are also hoping to build motion sensors and tracking sensors into the platform to make it more automated and make the platform even closer to what they envision it to be
