Whole Foods Market stores in Oregon and Washington have begun stocking non-GMO-fed pork as part of what the retailer calls “the first large-scale Non-GMO Project Verified fresh pork program.”

Customers can find a wide variety of fresh pork cuts from animals that have only been fed non-GMO verified feed. The pork is supplied by American Homestead Natural Pork, a longtime supplier of Whole Foods.
“Our customers tell us they want more non-GMO choices, and we’re listening,” Joe Rogoff, president of Whole Foods Market’s Pacific Northwest Region, said in a press release. “The path to earning non-GMO verification isn’t an easy one. We’re grateful to American Homestead Natural Pork for taking on the challenge of helping us reach this key milestone, and for sharing our commitment to transparency and uncompromised standards.”
In August, the retailer’s Northwest stores switched to non-GMO chicken in the prepared foods departments.
