RFID loyalty card enables retailer to detect customers in store

Dandy Lab, a boutique clothing retailer in London Spitalfields, has embedded an RFID chip into it’s plastic loyalty card. The technology enables Dandy Lab to detect the customer as they walk past the store or walk into it. Unlike with mobile loyalty enabled apps, the customer doesn’t have to do anything other than carry the card with them in their wallet.
Detecting the presence of a customer allows Dandy Lab to target customers via notifications sent their mobile phones. They are able to entice customers who are walking past or walking into store with targeted offers.
