Amazon lets shoppers add items to wishlist via Tweets
Sept. 25, 2014
Amazon has announced a new feature, #AmazonWishList, which allows customers to add items to their wishlists while using Twitter. According to the company, if a user sees a Tweet from a brand that features a product link, the user can reply to it, adding the titular hashtag, and the product will automatically be added to the wishlist.
“Twitter offers Amazon customers a great environment for inspiration and discovery,” said John Yurcisin, director of social at Amazon. “#AmazonWishList makes it easy for people to quickly add holiday gifts, décor or entertaining items tweeted by interesting people, friends, or brands on Twitter to their Amazon Wish List, allowing customers to simply save items to their wish list and keep on Tweeting.”
The announcement comes after the recent launch of a similar service, #AmazonCart, which uses the same functionality to add products to a user's Amazon shopping cart. In both cases, shoppers have to opt in to have their Twitter and Amazon accounts connected.
